Searching new Photosynthetic Bacteria

Photosynthetic organisms to extract electrons from the water by absorbing solar has the key to solve the energy and environmental problems. That Photosystem Researchs that catalyze the hydrolysis reactions have been from unicellular cyanobacterias mainly until now. But the research from filamentous cyanobacterial is the very untapped field.
Our laboratory has succeeded to isolate the new filamentous Thermophilic cyanobacterium, "Leptolyngbya sp. strain O-77" and and refined "Photosystem II". We aim to build a new energy generation system by photosynthetic reactions.
